Additionally, The Lupus Foundation of America also provides support to those living with Lupus. And to help expedite a cure, The Lupus Foundation of America is dedicated to increasing public awareness and helping procure funding for further Lupus education and research. |

Lupus is an autoimmune disease. Normally, the body's immune system functions by attacking foreign materials in the body, preventing sickness and disease. For those with Lupus, their immune systems are unable to tell the difference between foreign materials and the body's own healthy cells and tissue and, as a results, attack normal healthy cells and tissue. Lupus can affect a number of different parts of the body and lead to inflammation, pain, and damage to otherwise healthy cells and tissue. |
